A couple lives out their normal 90s sitcom lives until one of them realizes
a dark secret that will change their lives forever.
This filmed focused on replicating the 90s sitcom aesthetic, then hard shifting to horror/thriller motif, akin to something like Late Night with the Devil. This was one of my first big directing projects so I wanted to go all out throughout the entire process.
I wanted to replicate the old tv viewing experience in it's entirety, that meant coming up with commercial breaks and title cards for the fake show. This was one of the longest processes in the editing phase, as dozens of motion graphics were created to transition between different parts of the show.

The plot twist transition needed to be harsh and fast, so swapping from the canon t3i to simulate vhs style cameras to a Blackmagic pocket 4k for higher quality footage. In the post-production phase, changing the color space and aspect ratio were used to show a transition of mental state. Along with that, many glitch VFX masks and rotoscoping were used to show the viewer that something wasn't right, and it was about to change states.
